Health & Disability Advocates
Health & Disability Advocates presents a special session for community-based organizations interested in serving the behavioral and mental health needs of military Service Members, Veterans, and their families. No previous experience or prerequisite is necessary.
The day begins with a morning that provides an overview of military and Veteran culture and the role of women in the military. The afternoon focuses on Military Sexual Trauma (MST), unique needs associated with MST, PTSD, Suicide, Substance Abuse, how community organizations can help or collaborate with military organizations, and clinical approaches to working with this unique population. We hope this session will build a foundation for a detailed conversation both during the training but also into the future.
Presenters include representatives from,
• The Illinois National Guard Psychological Health Program,
• Dept. of Veterans Affairs,
• The Vet Center, and
• Community agencies serving Veterans.
