The Chicago Forum for Justice in Health Policy:
A monthly discussion series beginning July 16

Health & Medicine Policy Research Group is pleased to announce The Chicago Forum for Justice in Health Policy, a series of monthly discussions about evolving health reform models, challenges, and successes.

Our first forum in this series will be Challenges to the Healthcare Safety Net in a Reforming Healthcare Environment.

When: Wednesday, July 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 
Where: UIC School of Public Health auditorium 1603 West Taylor Street in Chicago

Forum panelists:
  • Moderator: Rick Wilk, Regional Administrator, Chicago Regional Office - Region V, Health Resources Services Administration
  • Misty Drake, Chief Operating Officer, Chicago Family Health Center
  • Caroline Chapman, Director, Public Benefits Practice Group, LAF
  • Paul Berrini, System Manager of Planning, Sinai Health System
  • Kathy Chan, Director of Policy, Cook County Health & Hospitals System
  • A representative from the Governor’s Office (invited)

The event will include time for a light breakfast and networking from 8:45-9:15 a.m.

About The Chicago Forum for Justice in Health Policy:
Each policy forum in The Chicago Forum for Justice in Health Policy series will focus on health reform efforts both in Illinois and in the Chicago area, including discussions of best practices from around the country.

The Chicago Forum for Justice in Health Policy series will explore issues including:
  • Challenges facing the health care safety net
  • Remaining gaps in coverage after ACA implementation: expanding access to uninsured and underinsured people
  • Ensuring access to care for people involved with the criminal legal system
  • Integrating behavioral health and physical health services
  • Policy solutions to help address scope of practice and healthcare workforce shortages
  • Health reform: moving toward health equity
  • End-of-life planning and care
  • Each of these policy “deep dive” discussions will feature subject matter experts, including health advocates, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers.
