Global Alliance for Africa - Therapeutic Arts Program - Tanzania and KenyaMay 5-25, 2015

Join art therapist Cathy Moon and Global Alliance for Africa’s Programs Director, Linda Stolz for a trip to Kenya and Tanzania to contribute to the development of the Therapeutic Arts Program (TAP). We will travel with our African partners and trainees to Naivasha, Kenya, the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya, and Bagamoyo, Tanzania where TAP paraprofessional therapeutic artists provide psychosocial care for orphans and vulnerable children. Through cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary workshops and dialogues we will aim to advance the ongoing development of site-specific TAP services, and to enrich the cross-cultural knowledge, awareness, and practices of all participants.

The primary emphasis of the trip will be on TAP trainings, but we will also offer workshops for children and youth, and experience the arts and culture of these countries through visits to local markets, galleries and events. An optional safari also will be available at the end of the trip (with a return date of May 27).
