MAAT Thesis Night 2015Please join the graduating MAAT students and faculty for an event showcasing select thesis projects and artwork by advanced and graduating students. 

Friday May 8, 2015; 6pm-9pm. Leroy Neiman Center, 37 S. Wabash. 
The evening features a program of 5 thesis presentations followed by a group exhibition with works by all of the MAAT Class of 2015.

Maria Tritico and Marlene Johnson invite all to join them on Saturday, ​May 9th from 7-9pm at the Eleemosynary Gallery in Pilsen, for their MAAT Thesis Reception: (de)Constructing Aesthetics.

Their art-informed processes were developed to foster self-reflection and awareness grounded in experiences from our respective fieldworks sites. Come out and enjoy some amazing art.

Join eleven graduating MAAT students
​Saturday ​May 9th from 1-4pm at Evanston Art Center for our opening reception 11 Theses: Art Therapy Aesthetics art show!

These students are fully immersed in the scholarly dimensions of art therapy theory, research, and philosophy, as well as related fields of counseling and psychology. This installation will include artworks of eleven SAIC Master of Art Therapy candidates, who have included art-based research methods as part of their thesis. The exhibit will showcase each candidate's thesis research and will speak to the singular power of art to foster self-expression, self-esteem and healing.

Presenting artists include: Meg Boyle, Nikki Bozzano, Seth Carlson, Elbe Cina, Rebecca DeGraw, Leslie Garb, Evelina Jagminaite, Daniel Lanctot, Noel King, Jen Kirkpatrick and Kylin Jewell

This is a great endeavor, sponsored by Mental Health America. A group of writers teamed up with a group of visual artists. The visual artists responded to the writers stories. I can't be there but have a piece in the exhibit. Hopefully some of you can make it to this worthwhile event.

My name is Josh Cohen and I recently co-edited a book through Routledge titled Video and Filmmaking as Psychotherapy: Research and Practice through Routledge along with two co-editors (Cohen, Johnson, Orr, 2015).

I am writing to ask for contributions for a new book that will emphasize tools for positive social change using therapeutic techniques in filmmaking as well as Film/Video-based therapy through expressive art therapies like drama, dance, music, painting, drawing, and more. By learning the language of film, we may educate people on how to watch and use the images so we learn how to process and discuss the images.
