Sharp Building 7th Floor Exhibits
Please check out the new exhibit on the 7th floor of Sharp on 37 S. Wabash Ave. featuring the recent Fall semester course ARTTHER 4010 Comics Narratives: Illness, Disability & Recovery.
On November 2nd, thirteen students from the Comics Narratives: Illness, Disability, & Recovery course with their instructor Katharine Houpt trekked to Mather, a retirement community located in Evanston. There they collaborated with the residents on autobiographical works. Merging comics’ limitless possibilities with the philosophies of the graphic medicine movement, each artist conducted an intimate one-on-one interview with a member of the Mather’s community and then used an array of media to depict their conversations. Playing with the social constructs of memory, time, and age, this series speaks to the power of intergenerational discourse and creativity.
